En wie zijn zoon of dochter meer liefheeft dan Mij, is Mij niet waardig.\u201d<\/em><br \/><strong>Matte\u00fcs 10:37<\/strong><\/p><p>In Christus&#039; tijd zochten de mensen naar de Vredevorst (Jesaja 9:6; Psalm 72). Ze beseften niet dat de Heer eerst verworpen moest worden, aan het kruis moest lijden, en dat pas daarna de heerlijkheid zou volgen (1 Petrus 1:11). De Heer begon zijn volgelingen al vroeg voor te bereiden op het conflict dat Hij moest doorstaan, een conflict waaraan ook zij niet zouden kunnen ontkomen. We moeten onszelf er nogmaals aan herinneren dat het hier om dienstbaarheid gaat, en dat de Heer de noodzaak uitdrukt voor zijn discipelen om Hem de eerste plaats in hun leven te geven.<\/p><p>Het is ook nuttig te beseffen dat er door het voltooide werk van het kruis een nieuwe relatie tot stand is gekomen. De Heer benadrukte dit in Marcus 3:31-35: <em data-start=\"1295\" data-end=\"1762\">\u201cToen kwamen zijn broers en zijn moeder, en ze stonden buiten en stuurden mensen naar hem toe om hem te roepen. Er zat een grote menigte om hem heen en ze zeiden tegen hem: &#039;Kijk, uw moeder en uw broers staan buiten en zoeken u.&#039; Maar hij antwoordde hun: &#039;Wie is mijn moeder of mijn broers?&#039; En hij keek de mensen die om hem heen zaten aan en zei: &#039;Zie, mijn moeder en mijn broers! Want wie de wil van God doet, die is mijn broer, mijn zus en mijn moeder.&#039;\u2018<\/em><\/p><p>De Heer Jezus leerde Zijn volgelingen dat als we Zijn discipelen willen zijn, Hij de hoogste prioriteit in ons leven moet hebben. Er is vaak gezegd: <em data-start=\"1914\" data-end=\"2054\">\u201cIn het leven van alle gelovigen is Christus aanwezig; in het leven van sommige gelovigen staat Hij centraal. Maar de echte vraag is: staat Hij centraal in mijn leven?\u2019<\/em><\/p><p>De gedachte hierachter is dat mijn hart volledig aan Christus toegewijd moet zijn, en dat alle andere relaties op de tweede plaats moeten komen. Dit is in wezen het idee van heiliging. Het woord <em data-start=\"2249\" data-end=\"2259\">heiligen<\/em> betekent \u201ciets apart zetten voor een bepaald doel.\u201d De Heer zegt:, <em data-start=\"2321\" data-end=\"2417\">\u201cDenk niet dat ik gekomen ben om vrede op aarde te brengen. Ik ben niet gekomen om vrede te brengen, maar een zwaard.\u201d<\/em> (Matte\u00fcs 10:34) Het zwaard symboliseert scheiding (Hebree\u00ebn 4:12).<\/p><p>De Heer Jezus veroordeelt natuurlijke of familiale relaties niet. Maar Hij maakt wel duidelijk dat natuurlijke relaties nooit voorrang mogen krijgen boven onze relatie met de Heer Jezus \u2013 in onze dienst aan Hem of onze gemeenschap met Hem.\u00a0<\/p><p><em data-start=\"2913\" data-end=\"3007\">\u201c&quot;Niemand die de hand aan de ploeg slaat en achteromkijkt, is geschikt voor het koninkrijk van God.&quot;\u201d<\/em> (Lucas 9:62) Niemand kan de Heer halfslachtig dienen.
