Il lui incombait de proph\u00e9tiser \u00e0 une g\u00e9n\u00e9ration qui l&#039;\u00e9coutait d&#039;une certaine mani\u00e8re, le comparant \u00e0 un orateur \u00e0 la voix agr\u00e9able, parlant de ses sermons, mais ne mettant pas son message en pratique. Ils entendaient ses paroles, mais ne les appliquaient pas.<\/p><p>\u00c9z\u00e9chiel n&#039;\u00e9tait pas le seul homme de Dieu dont les sermons restaient lettre morte. Auparavant, Dieu avait averti Isa\u00efe que son message aveuglerait les yeux, boucherait les oreilles et endurcirait les c\u0153urs, de peur que les auditeurs ne se convertissent et ne soient gu\u00e9ris. Ces paroles apparaissent plus tard dans chacun des quatre \u00c9vangiles, puis dans les Actes des Ap\u00f4tres et l&#039;\u00c9p\u00eetre aux Romains, pour expliquer la faible r\u00e9action d&#039;Isra\u00ebl au minist\u00e8re de notre Seigneur et de Paul. Isra\u00ebl a entendu, mais n&#039;a rien fait.<\/p><p>Jacques nous met en garde contre ce m\u00eame mal. Invariablement, nous ne citons pas le verset en entier. Nous disons\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Mettez en pratique la Parole, et ne vous contentez pas de l\u2019\u00e9couter\u00a0\u201d, et nous nous arr\u00eatons l\u00e0. Mais il y a une phrase suppl\u00e9mentaire tr\u00e8s solennelle\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0vous vous trompez vous-m\u00eames\u00a0\u201d. C\u2019est l\u00e0 le pire\u00a0: en \u00e9coutant sans mettre en pratique, nous nous trompons nous-m\u00eames.<\/p><p>Notre Seigneur nous a constamment mis en garde contre l&#039;\u00e9coute passive. \u201c Quiconque entend ces paroles que je dis et ne les met pas en pratique sera semblable \u00e0 un homme insens\u00e9 qui a b\u00e2ti sa maison sur le sable. \u201d \u201c Si vous savez ces choses, heureux \u00eates-vous si vous les mettez en pratique. \u201d \u201c Vous \u00eates mes amis si vous faites ce que je vous commande. \u201d \u201c Pourquoi m&#039;appelez-vous : \u2018Seigneur, Seigneur !\u2019, et ne faites-vous pas ce que je dis ? \u201d Dans le Grand Mandat, il nous est demand\u00e9 d&#039;aller \u201c leur enseigner \u00e0 observer \u201d ses commandements.<\/p><p>Parmi les p\u00e9ch\u00e9s les plus fr\u00e9quents des saints, le plus grave est d&#039;\u00e9couter sans agir. C&#039;est un p\u00e9ch\u00e9 s\u00e9rieux, car \u201c celui qui sait faire le bien et ne le fait pas, commet un p\u00e9ch\u00e9 \u201d. \u00c0 l&#039;\u00e9poque d&#039;\u00c9z\u00e9chiel, on \u00e9coutait le pr\u00e9dicateur, on le complimentait, on parlait de lui, mais on ne mettait pas son message en pratique. Les si\u00e8cles ont pass\u00e9, et aujourd&#039;hui, nous \u00e9coutons les pr\u00e9dicateurs, nous invitons d&#039;autres personnes \u00e0 les \u00e9couter et nous les f\u00e9licitons d&#039;un compliment pour le moins douteux : \u201c J&#039;ai appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 votre sermon. \u201d Mais nous n&#039;agissons pas ensuite.<\/p><p>N&#039;oublions jamais que, m\u00eame si nous restons passifs face \u00e0 la Parole que nous entendons, elle agira sur nous. De m\u00eame que le soleil fait fondre la glace et durcit l&#039;argile, la Parole de Dieu, par sa nature m\u00eame, humilie ou endurcit le c\u0153ur humain. La v\u00e9rit\u00e9 entendue sans \u00eatre mise en pratique est dangereuse.
