\u201c Samuel dit \u00e0 Jess\u00e9 : \u201c Tous les jeunes gens sont-ils ici ? \u201d Jess\u00e9 r\u00e9pondit : \u201c Il reste encore le plus jeune, qui garde les brebis. \u201d Samuel dit alors \u00e0 Jess\u00e9 : \u201c Envoie-le chercher, car nous ne nous mettrons pas \u00e0 table avant qu\u2019il ne soit arriv\u00e9. \u201d \u201d<\/em>
1 Samuel 16:11<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

Dans 1 Samuel 16, nous rencontrons de jeunes David<\/span><\/span>. Nous apprenons ici qu'il gardait les moutons de son p\u00e8re dans les champs. Imaginez un instant ce que cela pouvait repr\u00e9senter\u00a0: ce n'est sans doute pas ce que nous consid\u00e9rerions comme un terrain d'entra\u00eenement id\u00e9al pour un futur roi. Et pourtant, c'\u00e9tait bien le cas. David passait de longues heures dans les champs \u00e0 veiller sur les moutons. Ce fut un temps pr\u00e9cieux, car c'est durant ces moments que David apprit \u00e0 appr\u00e9cier la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 de la pr\u00e9sence de Dieu.<\/p>

Imaginez David par une nuit calme et sombre, levant les yeux vers un ciel \u00e9toil\u00e9. Contemplant ces innombrables lumi\u00e8res, il d\u00e9clara plus tard\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Quand je contemple tes cieux, \u0153uvre de tes doigts, la lune et les \u00e9toiles que tu as plac\u00e9es, qu\u2019est-ce que l\u2019homme, pour que tu te souviennes de lui\u00a0? Et le fils de l\u2019homme, pour que tu prennes soin de lui\u00a0?\u00a0\u201d (Psaume 8:3-4).<\/p>

Ce fut le lieu d'entra\u00eenement de David, celui qui le pr\u00e9para \u00e0 guider le peuple de Dieu. Sans doute monotone, car il y r\u00e9p\u00e9tait souvent les m\u00eames t\u00e2ches. Apr\u00e8s tout, garder des moutons n'a rien de passionnant. Imaginez la solitude de ces nuits. Pourtant, cette solitude lui apprit \u00e0 appr\u00e9cier la pr\u00e9sence de Dieu et \u00e0 lui parler souvent.<\/p>

Ce n'\u00e9tait pas seulement un lieu d'entra\u00eenement solitaire et monotone, mais aussi un lieu obscur. David n'\u00e9tait pas sous les projecteurs ; personne ne voyait ce qu'il faisait jour apr\u00e8s jour. Cela lui a appris la fid\u00e9lit\u00e9, envers le Seigneur et envers les brebis confi\u00e9es \u00e0 sa garde.<\/p>

C\u2019est dans ce contexte d\u2019apprentissage que David put \u00e9crire\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0L\u2019\u00c9ternel est mon berger\u00a0; je ne manquerai de rien.\u00a0\u201d Il comprenait sa propre tendance \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9garer, \u00e0 l\u2019image d\u2019une brebis qui peut facilement s\u2019\u00e9loigner du Berger. Il connaissait son besoin de la gr\u00e2ce et de la guidance divines. Il put aussi \u00e9crire\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Il me fait reposer dans de verts p\u00e2turages, il me conduit pr\u00e8s des eaux paisibles.\u00a0\u201d Dans sa jeunesse, la vie de David \u00e9tait empreinte de s\u00e9r\u00e9nit\u00e9, et il connaissait la joie de la communion avec le Seigneur.<\/p>

David n'\u00e9tait pas parfait, mais son c\u0153ur aspirait \u00e0 la saintet\u00e9 et il souhaitait que cela se manifeste dans sa vie. On le voit lorsqu'il d\u00e9clare : \u201c Il restaure mon \u00e2me ; il me conduit dans les sentiers de la justice, \u00e0 cause de son nom. \u201d Berger, David a affront\u00e9 de nombreux dangers, mais il a appris \u00e0 placer sa confiance dans le Seigneur durant ces ann\u00e9es formatrices. Il a \u00e9galement appris \u00e0 appr\u00e9cier la main protectrice et correctrice de Dieu, comme en t\u00e9moignent ses paroles : \u201c Quand je marche dans la vall\u00e9e de l'ombre de la mort, je ne crains aucun mal, car tu es avec moi ; ta houlette et ton b\u00e2ton me rassurent. \u201d<\/p>

David exprima sa gratitude envers Dieu pour sa providence lorsqu'il \u00e9crivit\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Tu dresses devant moi une table, en face de mes ennemis\u00a0; tu oins d'huile ma t\u00eate, et ma coupe d\u00e9borde.\u00a0\u201d Il r\u00e9v\u00e9la \u00e9galement un c\u0153ur tourn\u00e9 vers Dieu lorsqu'il d\u00e9clara\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Oui, le bonheur et la gr\u00e2ce m'accompagneront tous les jours de ma vie, et j'habiterai dans la maison de l'\u00c9ternel jusqu'\u00e0 la fin de mes jours.\u00a0\u201d<\/p>

O\u00f9 que vous soyez aujourd'hui, c'est un lieu d'apprentissage pour Dieu. Le Seigneur vous fa\u00e7onne et vous pr\u00e9pare pour quelque chose qu'il a en t\u00eate. Ce n'est peut-\u00eatre pas pour devenir roi, mais il d\u00e9sire vous utiliser comme il l'a fait pour David.
