Soit donc que nous vivions, soit que nous mourions, nous appartenons au Seigneur.<br \/><\/em><strong><em>Romains 14:8<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/div><div class=\"LIN-Text\"><p>L\u2019esp\u00e9rance qui nous anime en tant que disciples de J\u00e9sus-Christ devrait influencer tous les aspects de notre vie, y compris notre rapport \u00e0 la mort. L\u2019ap\u00f4tre Paul pouvait dire\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Car pour moi, vivre, c\u2019est le Christ, et mourir est un gain\u00a0\u201d (Philippiens 1.21). Il pouvait l\u2019affirmer car il savait que son esp\u00e9rance reposait sur un Homme glorieux qui s\u2019\u00e9tait assur\u00e9 une place au ciel en donnant sa vie pour Paul et pour tous ceux qui placeraient leur foi dans l\u2019\u0153uvre accomplie par le Christ sur la croix.<\/p><p>Chaque jour, plus de 5\u00a0000 personnes meurent dans le monde. Certaines meurent de causes naturelles, d\u2019autres d\u2019accidents tragiques, et d\u2019autres encore sont victimes de crimes. Pour certains, la mort est attendue, tandis que pour d\u2019autres, elle survient \u00e0 l\u2019improviste. Puisque le p\u00e9ch\u00e9 est entr\u00e9 dans le monde, la mort fait partie de la vie. Mais pour ceux qui ont reconnu leur p\u00e9ch\u00e9 et se sont tourn\u00e9s vers Dieu par son Fils bien-aim\u00e9, le Seigneur J\u00e9sus, la mort n\u2019est que le passage qui nous conduit en la pr\u00e9sence de notre Seigneur b\u00e9ni\u00a0! Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019esp\u00e9rance en Christ, la mort est per\u00e7ue comme un commencement, non comme une fin\u00a0! Puisque Christ a vaincu la mort (1 Corinthiens 15, 20-28), l\u2019esp\u00e9rance que nous avons en lui nous donne l\u2019assurance de ne pas craindre. Sur son lit de mort, le puritain John Owen \u00e9crivait\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Je suis encore au pays des mourants, mais j\u2019esp\u00e8re bient\u00f4t \u00eatre au pays des vivants.\u00a0\u201d<\/p><p>David nous rappelle que la mort n&#039;est qu&#039;une ombre (Ps. 23,4), ce qui signifie que la lumi\u00e8re est pr\u00e9sente. Cette lumi\u00e8re pr\u00e9sente pour chaque croyant, c&#039;est le Seigneur J\u00e9sus-Christ. Le croyant appartient \u00e0 Christ dans la vie, et il lui appartient aussi dans la mort ! C&#039;est l&#039;esp\u00e9rance qu&#039;il a acquise pour chacun de nous lorsqu&#039;il a donn\u00e9 sa vie pour nous, \u00e0 notre place, sur la croix. Lorsque nous pla\u00e7ons notre foi en lui et en son \u0153uvre accomplie, cette esp\u00e9rance est n\u00f4tre !
