Une m\u00e8che ainsi consum\u00e9e \u00e9tant inutile, on l&#039;\u00e9teint et on la jette. Le lin fumant repr\u00e9sente les personnes dont la vie est us\u00e9e ; il \u00e9mane d&#039;elles plus de fum\u00e9e que de lumi\u00e8re. Leur t\u00e9moignage est devenu inefficace. Peut-\u00eatre vous sentez-vous comme un lin fumant. Votre lumi\u00e8re s&#039;est-elle affaiblie jusqu&#039;\u00e0 ne plus briller que de fum\u00e9e, presque \u00e9teinte ? \u00cates-vous d\u00e9courag\u00e9 car votre lumi\u00e8re ne brille plus intens\u00e9ment ?<\/p><p>Nos \u00e9checs ne sont jamais d\u00e9finitifs ! Jean Marc, autrefois brillant de mille feux, commen\u00e7a \u00e0 d\u00e9cliner. Il quitta Paul et Barnab\u00e9 lors de leur premier voyage missionnaire et rentra chez lui (Actes 13.13). Pourtant, plus tard, Paul put \u00e9crire que Marc lui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 utile pour le minist\u00e8re (2 Timoth\u00e9e 4.11). \u00c0 un moment donn\u00e9, la flamme de Jean Marc fut raviv\u00e9e, peut-\u00eatre par Barnab\u00e9. Le Seigneur eut compassion d&#039;un jeune homme nomm\u00e9 Pierre, \u201c\u00a0une graine qui fume encore\u00a0\u201d (Matthieu 26.69-75). Combien de fois avons-nous vu notre lumi\u00e8re presque s&#039;\u00e9teindre\u00a0? Combien de fois n&#039;\u00e9tions-nous que fum\u00e9e et aucune lumi\u00e8re, notre foi et notre t\u00e9moignage s&#039;\u00e9tant obscurcis au fil de notre vie\u00a0? Il aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 facile pour le Seigneur d\u2019\u00e9teindre notre faible flamme et de nous an\u00e9antir, mais il est toujours pr\u00eat \u00e0 nous pardonner, \u00e0 nous restaurer et \u00e0 nous rallumer lorsque nous l\u2019invoquons en confessant nos p\u00e9ch\u00e9s (1 Jn 1,9).<\/p><p>Il n&#039;\u00e9teindra jamais une m\u00e8che fumante, mais l&#039;attisera jusqu&#039;\u00e0 en faire une flamme. <em>\u00e9teindre<\/em> Cela signifie \u201c \u00e9teindre ou couper \u201d. Le Seigneur n&#039;\u00e9teint pas cette m\u00e8che qui couve. Il ne la laisse pas s&#039;\u00e9teindre sans y penser. Au contraire, il vient la raviver et la rallumer.
