Il quitta la Jud\u00e9e et retourna en Galil\u00e9e. Mais il devait traverser la Samarie. Il arriva donc dans une ville de Samarie appel\u00e9e Sychar, pr\u00e8s du terrain que Jacob avait donn\u00e9 \u00e0 son fils Joseph\u2026 Une Samaritaine vint puiser de l\u2019eau. J\u00e9sus lui dit\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Donne-moi \u00e0 boire.\u00a0\u201d Car ses disciples \u00e9taient all\u00e9s en ville acheter des provisions. Alors la Samaritaine lui dit\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Comment se fait-il que toi, qui es Juif, tu me demandes \u00e0 boire, \u00e0 moi qui suis Samaritaine\u00a0?\u00a0\u201d Car les Juifs n\u2019ont pas de relations avec les Samaritains.

Cette rencontre avec le Christ est pr\u00e9cieuse. Elle nous rappelle que, aussi douloureux que soit notre pass\u00e9, il n'est jamais hors de port\u00e9e d'un Dieu d'amour et de gr\u00e2ce.<\/p>

La Samaritaine qui rencontra le Seigneur J\u00e9sus au puits de Sychar \u00e9tait venue simplement puiser de l'eau. Elle \u00e9tait probablement venue avec des cruches vides, symboles de sa propre vie : vide et aride. Elle cherchait l'amour et l'acceptation, ayant encha\u00een\u00e9 les relations \u2013 cinq maris et vivant maintenant avec un homme qui n'\u00e9tait pas son \u00e9poux (4,17-18). Chaque exp\u00e9rience laissait au fond de son c\u0153ur le m\u00eame profond d\u00e9sir inassouvi.<\/p>

Elle rencontre alors un autre homme, diff\u00e9rent de lui. Il est pr\u00eat \u00e0 franchir toutes les barri\u00e8res raciales et sociales. Bien qu'il soit juif, il lui offre \u00e0 boire, \u00e0 elle, une Samaritaine au pass\u00e9 douloureux. Cette situation la d\u00e9concerte profond\u00e9ment. Pourtant, elle sent que cet homme est diff\u00e9rent, \u00e0 son regard, \u00e0 sa fa\u00e7on de lui parler. Il ne s'attarde pas sur les diff\u00e9rences de race ou de statut social ; au contraire, il la regarde droit dans les yeux et r\u00e9pond \u00e0 son besoin le plus profond.<\/p>

\u201c J\u00e9sus lui r\u00e9pondit : \u2018 Si tu connaissais le don de Dieu et qui est celui qui te dit : \u201c Donne-moi \u00e0 boire \u201d, tu lui aurais demand\u00e9, et il t\u2019aurait donn\u00e9 de l\u2019eau vive \u2019 \u201d (4:10).<\/p>

Ses paroles la troubl\u00e8rent davantage : \u201c Monsieur, vous n\u2019avez rien pour puiser, et le puits est profond. D\u2019o\u00f9 tirez-vous donc cette eau vive ? \u201d Elle tenta de changer de sujet, \u00e9voquant les diff\u00e9rences de religion et de culte, mais le Seigneur J\u00e9sus continua de se concentrer sur le besoin de son c\u0153ur :<\/p>

\u201c Celui qui boit de cette eau aura encore soif ; mais celui qui boira de l\u2019eau que je lui donnerai n\u2019aura plus jamais soif. L\u2019eau que je lui donnerai deviendra en lui une source d\u2019eau jaillissant pour la vie \u00e9ternelle. \u201d<\/p>

Elle poursuivit en parlant de l'adoration, et le Seigneur lui rappela \u2014 ainsi qu'\u00e0 chaque lecteur \u2014 que nous sommes tous cr\u00e9\u00e9s pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment pour cela. Mais la v\u00e9ritable adoration ne se trouve pas dans la religion\u00a0; elle se trouve dans une relation avec le Dieu vivant, celui qui l'a cr\u00e9\u00e9e.<\/p>
