Mo\u00efse leur avait dit\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Vous \u00eates un peuple saint pour l&#039;\u00c9ternel, votre Dieu\u00a0; l&#039;\u00c9ternel, votre Dieu, vous a choisis pour \u00eatre son peuple, un peuple particulier parmi tous les peuples qui sont sur la face de la terre\u2026 car l&#039;\u00c9ternel vous aime\u00a0\u201d (Deut\u00e9ronome 7:6-8). Puis J\u00e9r\u00e9mie leur avait dit\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Je vous ai aim\u00e9s d&#039;un amour \u00e9ternel\u00a0\u201d (J\u00e9r\u00e9mie 31:3).<\/p><p>Dieu leur avait prouv\u00e9 son amour en les choisissant de pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux descendants d&#039;\u00c9sa\u00fc, en les aidant \u00e0 revenir et \u00e0 reconstruire les lieux d\u00e9sol\u00e9s, et en leur permettant de voir sa grandeur manifest\u00e9e au-del\u00e0 des fronti\u00e8res d&#039;Isra\u00ebl (Malachie 1:2-5). Malgr\u00e9 tout cela, ils demand\u00e8rent : \u201c En quoi nous as-tu aim\u00e9s ? \u201d<\/p><p>Nous ne sommes pas diff\u00e9rents aujourd&#039;hui. Nos c\u0153urs peuvent facilement s&#039;endurcir face \u00e0 son amour pour nous, et nous oublions que \u201c\u00a0et voici en quoi consiste l&#039;amour\u00a0: ce n&#039;est pas nous qui avons aim\u00e9 Dieu, mais c&#039;est lui qui nous a aim\u00e9s et qui a envoy\u00e9 son Fils comme victime expiatoire pour nos p\u00e9ch\u00e9s\u00a0\u201d (1 Jean 4,10). Si nous commen\u00e7ons \u00e0 perdre de vue son immense amour pour nous, nous serons peu \u00e0 peu attir\u00e9s par d&#039;autres choses.<\/p><p>C\u2019est ce qui est arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9glise d\u2019\u00c9ph\u00e8se\u00a0: elle a abandonn\u00e9 son premier amour (Apocalypse 2.4). Tant d\u2019autres choses s\u2019\u00e9taient insidieusement gliss\u00e9es dans son c\u0153ur que son amour pour le Christ s\u2019\u00e9tait \u00e9teint. C\u2019est ce qui est arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 Juda au temps de Malachie. Cherchant des b\u00e9n\u00e9dictions mat\u00e9rielles comme preuve de l\u2019amour de Dieu, ils sont devenus aveugles \u00e0 tout ce qu\u2019il avait accompli.
