Nos voisins se disent certains de leur salut, mais nous trouvons cela pr\u00e9somptueux. Tout ce que je peux faire, c\u2019est esp\u00e9rer. \u201d\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Nous demandons\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Le Dieu d\u2019Isra\u00ebl n\u2019a-t-il pas pr\u00e9vu un moyen de salut pour son peuple\u00a0?\u00a0\u201d Le fils r\u00e9pond\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Si, et nous avons fait ce que Dieu nous a dit. Le sang d\u2019un agneau sans tache a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9pandu sur les linteaux des portes, mais nous ne sommes toujours pas assur\u00e9s de notre s\u00e9curit\u00e9.\u00a0\u201d\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Passons maintenant chez leurs voisins. Quel contraste ! Tout le monde est heureux. Leurs linteaux de porte sont peints et ils savourent l&#039;agneau r\u00f4ti. Pourquoi tant de joie en une nuit si solennelle ? Ils r\u00e9pondent : \u201c Nous attendons les ordres de J\u00e9hovah, et alors nous dirons adieu \u00e0 l&#039;\u00c9gypte. \u201d\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>\u201c Mais, ne savez-vous pas que c&#039;est une nuit de jugement ? \u201d\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>\u201c Certes, mais notre fils a\u00een\u00e9 est sain et sauf. Le sang a \u00e9t\u00e9 appliqu\u00e9 conform\u00e9ment aux ordres de Dieu. \u201d\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>\u201c Mais cela a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 fait chez le voisin \u201d, r\u00e9pondons-nous, \u201c et ils sont m\u00e9contents car ils ne sont pas assur\u00e9s de leur s\u00e9curit\u00e9. \u201d\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>L&#039;a\u00een\u00e9 r\u00e9pond fermement\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Nous avons plus que le sang. Nous avons la Parole de Dieu \u00e0 ce sujet. Dieu a dit\u00a0: \u2018Quand je verrai le sang, je passerai par-dessus vous.\u2019 Dieu se contente du sang vers\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#039;ext\u00e9rieur, et nous nous contentons de sa Parole \u00e0 l&#039;int\u00e9rieur. Le sang r\u00e9pandu nous prot\u00e8ge, tandis que la Parole de Dieu nous assure la s\u00e9curit\u00e9.\u00a0\u201d\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Laquelle de ces deux maisons \u00e9tait la plus s\u00fbre\u00a0? La r\u00e9ponse est qu\u2019elles l\u2019\u00e9taient toutes deux, car leur s\u00e9curit\u00e9 d\u00e9pendait uniquement de ce que Dieu pensait du sang vers\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur, et non de leurs sentiments int\u00e9rieurs. Si vous voulez \u00eatre certain de recevoir des b\u00e9n\u00e9dictions, n\u2019\u00e9coutez pas le t\u00e9moignage instable de vos \u00e9motions. \u00c9coutez plut\u00f4t la Parole infaillible de Dieu\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0En v\u00e9rit\u00e9, en v\u00e9rit\u00e9, je vous le dis, celui qui croit en moi a la vie \u00e9ternelle\u00a0\u201d (Jean 6, 47).\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Prenons un autre exemple. Un homme demande \u00e0 louer une maison, mais le propri\u00e9taire ne lui r\u00e9pond pas. Un jour, un voisin lui dit\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Je suis s\u00fbr que vous obtiendrez cette maison. Vous souvenez-vous que le propri\u00e9taire vous a envoy\u00e9 un cadeau \u00e0 No\u00ebl dernier\u00a0? Il vous a aussi fait un signe de la main l\u2019autre jour.\u00a0\u201d Ces paroles redonnent espoir \u00e0 l\u2019homme.\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Le lendemain, un autre voisin lui dit : \u201c Je ne pense pas que vous obtiendrez cette maison. Quelqu&#039;un d&#039;autre a \u00e9galement fait une demande de location, et c&#039;est un ami proche du propri\u00e9taire. \u201d Les espoirs de l&#039;homme s&#039;\u00e9vanouissent comme des bulles de savon. Un jour, il est plein d&#039;espoir, et le lendemain, il est rong\u00e9 par le doute.\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Puis, une lettre du propri\u00e9taire arrive. Son visage passe de l&#039;angoisse \u00e0 la joie \u00e0 la lecture de la lettre. Il s&#039;exclame \u00e0 sa femme\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0C&#039;est r\u00e9gl\u00e9\u00a0! Le propri\u00e9taire dit que la maison est \u00e0 nous aussi longtemps que nous voulons la louer. L&#039;avis des autres n&#039;a plus d&#039;importance maintenant que nous avons sa parole \u00e9crite.\u00a0\u201d\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Nombreux sont ceux qui se trouvent dans une situation similaire, troubl\u00e9s par l&#039;opinion des hommes ou par les sentiments de leur c\u0153ur. Ce n&#039;est que lorsqu&#039;ils re\u00e7oivent enfin l&#039;assurance de la Parole de Dieu que la certitude remplace le doute.\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Quand Dieu parle, il y a certitude, qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de prononcer la damnation de l\u2019incr\u00e9dule ou le salut du croyant. \u201c \u00c0 jamais, \u00f4 \u00c9ternel, ta parole est \u00e9tablie dans les cieux \u201d (Ps. 119.89). Sa Parole est souveraine. \u201c Ce qu\u2019il a dit, ne le fera-t-il pas ? Ce qu\u2019il a promis, ne l\u2019accomplira-t-il pas ? \u201d (Nb 23.19).\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Mais vous vous demandez peut-\u00eatre\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Comment \u00eatre s\u00fbr d\u2019avoir une foi suffisante et v\u00e9ritable\u00a0?\u00a0\u201d Il ne s\u2019agit pas de savoir quelle est la nature ou l\u2019intensit\u00e9 de votre foi, mais de la fiabilit\u00e9 de la Personne en qui vous avez foi. Avez-vous confiance en la bonne Personne\u00a0: le Fils de Dieu\u00a0?\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>L&#039;un s&#039;accroche au Christ avec la force d&#039;un noy\u00e9, tandis que l&#039;autre ne fait qu&#039;effleurer son v\u00eatement ; pourtant, tous deux sont \u00e9galement en s\u00e9curit\u00e9. Ils ont fait la m\u00eame d\u00e9couverte : ils peuvent avoir une confiance absolue en Christ et en sa Parole et se reposer sereinement sur l&#039;efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9ternelle de son \u0153uvre accomplie.\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Veillez \u00e0 ce que votre confiance ne repose ni sur vos bonnes \u0153uvres, ni sur vos pratiques religieuses, ni sur vos sentiments, ni sur votre \u00e9ducation morale. Vous pouvez avoir la foi la plus profonde en ces choses et pourtant p\u00e9rir \u00e9ternellement. La foi la plus faible en Christ sauve pour l&#039;\u00e9ternit\u00e9\u00a0; la plus grande confiance en soi est vaine.\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>\u201c Je crois en Lui \u201d, dit un jour une fillette \u00e0 l&#039;air triste, \u201c mais je n&#039;aime pas dire que je suis sauv\u00e9e, de peur de mentir. \u201d Le p\u00e8re de cette fillette \u00e9tait all\u00e9 \u00e0 une vente de b\u00e9tail pour acheter des moutons et n&#039;\u00e9tait pas encore rentr\u00e9. Alors je lui dis : \u201c Imagine que, quand ton p\u00e8re rentre, tu lui demandes combien de moutons il a achet\u00e9s et qu&#039;il r\u00e9ponde &quot;dix&quot;. Plus tard, quelqu&#039;un te demande combien de moutons ton p\u00e8re a achet\u00e9s aujourd&#039;hui et tu r\u00e9ponds : &quot;Je ne veux pas le dire, de peur de mentir.&quot; \u2018 Avec une juste indignation, sa m\u00e8re, qui se tenait \u00e0 proximit\u00e9, s&#039;exclama : \u2019 Mais cela ferait de son p\u00e8re un menteur ! \u2018\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>De la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re, cette jeune fille bien intentionn\u00e9e faisait passer le Christ pour un menteur en disant : \u201c Je crois en lui, mais je n\u2019aime pas dire que je suis sauv\u00e9e de peur de mentir. \u201d Le Christ a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u201c Celui qui croit en moi a la vie \u00e9ternelle \u201d (Jn 6,47).\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Vous pourriez alors vous demander\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Comment \u00eatre s\u00fbr de croire\u00a0? Plus j\u2019y r\u00e9fl\u00e9chis, moins j\u2019ai l\u2019impression d\u2019avoir de foi.\u00a0\u201d Peut-\u00eatre cherchez-vous au mauvais endroit. Votre volont\u00e9 de croire ne fait que confirmer que vous \u00eates sur la mauvaise voie.\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Prenons un autre exemple. Un soir, un homme, connu pour \u00eatre un menteur inv\u00e9t\u00e9r\u00e9, vous annonce qu&#039;un ami vient de mourir dans un accident de voiture. Vous avez peu de chances de le croire, car vous le connaissez trop bien. Mais voil\u00e0 qu&#039;un voisin vous annonce la m\u00eame mauvaise nouvelle. Cette fois, vous dites\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Puisque c&#039;est vous qui me le dites, je vous crois.\u00a0\u201d Je vous demande\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Pourquoi croyez-vous votre voisin et non le menteur\u00a0?\u00a0\u201d Vous r\u00e9pondez\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0\u00c0 cause de qui est mon voisin et de ce qu&#039;il est. Il ne m&#039;a jamais menti, et je sais qu&#039;il ne me mentira jamais.\u00a0\u201d\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>De m\u00eame, je sais que je peux croire \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9vangile gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 Celui qui me l\u2019annonce. \u201c Si nous recevons le t\u00e9moignage des hommes, le t\u00e9moignage de Dieu est plus grand ; car c\u2019est le t\u00e9moignage que Dieu a rendu de son Fils\u2026 Celui qui ne croit pas en Dieu le fait menteur, parce qu\u2019il ne croit pas au t\u00e9moignage que Dieu a rendu de son Fils \u201d (1 Jn 5, 9-10).\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Un homme anxieux dit un jour \u00e0 un pr\u00e9dicateur : \u201c Je n&#039;arrive pas \u00e0 croire. \u201d Le pr\u00e9dicateur lui demanda : \u201c Qui donc n&#039;arrivez-vous pas \u00e0 croire ? \u201d Cette question r\u00e9solut le probl\u00e8me. Cet homme consid\u00e9rait la foi comme un sentiment int\u00e9rieur n\u00e9cessaire pour \u00eatre certain d&#039;\u00eatre digne du ciel. Or, la foi se tourne toujours vers le Christ et son \u0153uvre accomplie, et \u00e9coute en silence le t\u00e9moignage d&#039;un Dieu fid\u00e8le \u00e0 ce sujet.\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Le regard port\u00e9 sur le monde ext\u00e9rieur apporte la paix int\u00e9rieure. Quand on se tourne vers le soleil, son ombre est derri\u00e8re soi. On ne peut se regarder soi-m\u00eame et contempler le Christ glorifi\u00e9 au ciel en m\u00eame temps. Le Fils de Dieu inspire confiance\u00a0: son \u0153uvre accomplie assure la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 \u00e9ternelle et sa Parole donne la certitude du
