Le toc\u00f3 profetizar a una generaci\u00f3n que lo escuchaba superficialmente, lo comparaba con alguien de voz agradable, hablaba de su predicaci\u00f3n, pero no pon\u00eda en pr\u00e1ctica su mensaje. O\u00edan sus palabras, pero no las segu\u00edan.<\/p><p>Ezequiel no fue el \u00fanico hombre de Dios cuyos sermones cayeron en o\u00eddos sordos. Anteriormente, Dios le hab\u00eda advertido a Isa\u00edas que su mensaje cegar\u00eda los ojos, tapar\u00eda los o\u00eddos y endurecer\u00eda los corazones, para que los oyentes no se convirtieran ni sanaran. Estas palabras aparecen m\u00e1s adelante en cada uno de los cuatro Evangelios, y a\u00fan m\u00e1s tarde en Hechos y Romanos, para explicar la escasa respuesta de Israel al ministerio de nuestro Se\u00f1or y de Pablo. Israel escuch\u00f3, pero no hizo nada.<\/p><p>Santiago advierte contra el mismo mal. Invariablemente, no citamos el vers\u00edculo completo. Decimos: \u201cPero hacedores de la palabra, y no solamente oidores\u201d, y ah\u00ed terminamos. Pero hay una frase adicional sumamente solemne: \u201cenga\u00f1\u00e1ndoos a vosotros mismos\u201d. Esa es la peor parte: al o\u00edr y no practicar, nos enga\u00f1amos a nosotros mismos.<\/p><p>Nuestro Se\u00f1or advirti\u00f3 constantemente sobre el peligro de o\u00edr sin actuar. \u201cTodo aquel que oye estas palabras m\u00edas y no las pone en pr\u00e1ctica ser\u00e1 como un hombre insensato que construy\u00f3 su casa sobre la arena\u201d. \u201cSi sab\u00e9is estas cosas, bienaventurados sois si las pon\u00e9is en pr\u00e1ctica\u201d. \u201cSois mis amigos si hac\u00e9is lo que yo os mando\u201d. \u201c\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 me llam\u00e1is \u2018Se\u00f1or, Se\u00f1or\u2019, y no hac\u00e9is lo que yo os digo?\u201d. En la Gran Comisi\u00f3n, se nos dice que vayamos, \u201cense\u00f1\u00e1ndoles a observar\u201d las cosas que \u00c9l mand\u00f3.<\/p><p>El pecado m\u00e1s com\u00fan entre los santos es o\u00edr sin practicar. Es un pecado grave, pues \u201cquien sabe hacer el bien y no lo hace, comete pecado\u201d. En tiempos de Ezequiel, o\u00edan al predicador, lo elogiaban, hablaban de \u00e9l a otros, pero no pon\u00edan en pr\u00e1ctica el mensaje. Han pasado los siglos, y hoy escuchamos a los predicadores, invitamos a otros a o\u00edrlos y los felicitamos con el dudoso cumplido de \u201cDisfrut\u00e9 de su serm\u00f3n\u201d. Pero no hacemos nada al respecto.<\/p><p>Que nunca olvidemos que, aunque no hagamos nada con la Palabra que escuchamos, esta obrar\u00e1 en nosotros. El mismo sol derrite el hielo y endurece la arcilla, y la Palabra de Dios humilla o endurece el coraz\u00f3n humano. Escuchar la verdad y no ponerla en pr\u00e1ctica es peligroso.
