The Almighty God<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cWhen Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, \u2018I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly\u2019\u201d
Genesis 17:1\u20132<\/em><\/p>

This is the fifth time we read that the Lord appeared to Abram, but the last recorded time God spoke to him was thirteen years earlier. Abram had experienced the Lord as he began to walk by faith in chapters 12\u201313. He had learned the importance of relying on his God in chapters 14\u201315 as he warred by faith. But now, in chapters 16\u201317, Abram and his wife are finding it difficult to wait on the Lord by faith. God had promised the land to Abram and his descendants, but they were growing older and still had no children. In chapter 16, Sarai does what we often do\u2014she takes matters into her own hands. She gives her Egyptian maidservant, Hagar, to Abram, but this only creates more problems!<\/p>

Oftentimes, circumstances arise in our lives in which we try to work things out on our own, and we only complicate the situation. The Lord does not want us to rely on our own ingenuity or strength. He desires us to believe that nothing is too hard for Him and that He is able to turn an obstacle into an opportunity to display His glory!<\/p>

The Lord reveals Himself to Abram as Almighty God. This name is made up of two words: El, which speaks of power, and Shaddai, which carries the combined thought of all power and all sufficiency. The Lord was about to tell Abram that Sarai was going to have a son, even at ninety years of age! Abram, Sarai, and everyone else thought her womb was dead, but the Lord was about to do the impossible. He was more than sufficient to bring about a miraculous birth!<\/p>

As He did with Abram, the Lord is able to reveal Himself to us through His Word in exactly the way we need Him to. If you are facing a major decision or find yourself at an impossible impasse, do not run ahead of the Lord. Wait on Him to reveal His power and might! Abram was instructed to walk before the Lord and be blameless.\u00a0 Paul reminds us, \u201cHe who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?\u201d (Rom. 8:32). Trust Him to supply!<\/p>
