\u201cPero el fruto del Esp\u00edritu es amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, benignidad, bondad, fidelidad, mansedumbre, dominio propio. Contra tales cosas no hay ley.\u201d
G\u00e1latas 5:22\u201323<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

En Juan 13:34-35, el Se\u00f1or Jes\u00fas les dijo a sus disc\u00edpulos: \u201cUn mandamiento nuevo les doy: que se amen los unos a los otros. Como yo los he amado, as\u00ed tambi\u00e9n \u00e1mense los unos a los otros. En esto conocer\u00e1n todos que son mis disc\u00edpulos, si se aman los unos a los otros\u201d.\u201d<\/p>

Este amor no es amor de amistad (fileo<\/em> en griego), ni es Eros<\/em> amor, del cual obtenemos nuestra palabra er\u00f3tico<\/em>. Tampoco lo es. almacenamiento<\/em> amor, que se refiere al afecto familiar.<\/p>

El amor que se ve entre los creyentes es el amor que demuestra un aspecto del fruto del Esp\u00edritu. Es el amor de Dios manifestado a trav\u00e9s de nosotros. Es \u00e1gape<\/em> amor\u2014amor divino. \u00c1gape<\/em> es la naturaleza misma de Dios y debe ser demostrada por aquellos que han entrado en una relaci\u00f3n con \u00c9l a trav\u00e9s de la obra consumada de su amado Hijo.<\/p>

Esto lo vemos claramente en 1 Juan 4:7\u201312:<\/p>

\u201cAmados, am\u00e9monos unos a otros, porque el amor es de Dios; y todo aquel que ama ha nacido de Dios y conoce a Dios. El que no ama no conoce a Dios, porque Dios es amor. En esto se manifest\u00f3 el amor de Dios para con nosotros: en que Dios envi\u00f3 a su Hijo unig\u00e9nito al mundo para que vivamos por medio de \u00e9l. En esto consiste el amor: no en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que \u00e9l nos am\u00f3 y envi\u00f3 a su Hijo como propiciaci\u00f3n por nuestros pecados. Amados, si Dios nos am\u00f3 de esta manera, tambi\u00e9n nosotros debemos amarnos unos a otros. Nadie ha visto jam\u00e1s a Dios. Si nos amamos unos a otros, Dios permanece en nosotros, y su amor se ha perfeccionado en nosotros.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>

Estamos tan acostumbrados a pensar en el amor como un sentimiento, pero ese no es el caso con \u00e1gape<\/em> amar. \u00c1gape<\/em> El amor es amor incondicional. Se define por sus acciones, no por sus sentimientos. Implica fidelidad, compromiso y un acto de voluntad. Amar es una elecci\u00f3n.<\/p>

Este es el amor que Dios nos ha demostrado y el amor que espera de nosotros. Es un amor que busca el bienestar de los dem\u00e1s, incluso si requiere sacrificio. El Esp\u00edritu de Dios dedica un cap\u00edtulo entero \u20141 Corintios 13\u2014 a describir la naturaleza del amor. Sin embargo, la mayor muestra del amor divino se ve en la cruz, donde \u201cDios demuestra su amor por nosotros en que, siendo a\u00fan pecadores, Cristo muri\u00f3 por nosotros\u201d, y donde \u201cel Hijo de Dios me am\u00f3 y se entreg\u00f3 a s\u00ed mismo por m\u00ed\u201d (Romanos 5:8; G\u00e1latas 2:20).<\/p>
